A 45 is a song any song which does not mention the sound name as opposed to a dub plate which has to mention the sound name. In a 45 shootout, sounds clash by selecting and juggling their best choice of songs backed by a good MC (for this clash it is anything goes but the sounds have to read the crowd in their selection). The sound that gets the biggest forward from the crowd takes the day.
The secret to a 45 shootout is reading the crowd and knowing what they prefer. Having a good MC to present the song as the selector plays is a plus. It helps horn the selector by making him dig dip into his tune library looking for rare hits than can move the crowd.
One of the major rules of a clash is “no playback” simply meaning that a sound cannot play a song that has already been played by the competitor. This in itself means that the selector has to do a lot of research and go dip into his song library.
The clash is based on 45s’ (anything goes) as we acknowledge the fact that most of the sounds in the region have not invested in dub plates however the few with dubplates are also welcomed to participate as it is anything goes.. This will give the sounds a chance to showcase their selection, juggling and mic chant prowess to please the crowd. Participants will be picked through an online registration process which is open for all the sounds in the region willing to participate in the clash. The registration dates will run from October 15th, 2018 to November 15th 2018. The tournament is slated to start in December 2018 and run all the way to August 2019 where the 2 finalist will clash and the winner will be crowned. The winners’ prize comprises of a trophy and kes 150,000 and a performance at a major concert. The clash will take the form of a tournament and will be held once or twice in a month with two sounds clashing per night. It will consist of one round per sound lasting 30 minutes. The clash ill be moderated by an MC and the judgs will be the revelers (fans) at the dance.
